New Year slump? Cheer your poor, sorry self up right now…
- Attach a bar of chocolate to your vacuum cleaner so you can see what you’ll get when you’ve finished doing your chores. Rewarding.
- Make a high-five playlist on your MP3, whack on all songs that make you say: “Hell, yeah!” Turn it up loud. Inspiring.
- Sprinkle some hundreds and thousands on your morning cappuccino. Fun and yummy. Treat!

We chat to terrible twins Jedward about turning 21 and BFF Tara Reid
Hi, is that Edward or John?
E: Edward.
J: And me John, we’re both here in a room talking to you.
You both sound the same. How do we know who’s who?
J: I’ll say John before I answer.
E: And I’ll say Edward.
OK, we’ll try that. You were 21 recently. Did you have a party?
E: Yeah. Everyone expected us to do something crazy, like go to Las Vegas, but we still don’t drink alcohol or smoke or do anything crazy. But we did have a week of parties.
J: One for our family in Ireland, another with Louis Walsh and everyone we work with, then we went to London and partied with Tara Reid.
She likes a drink or two. Did you not even share a Babysham?
E: No, we didn’t.
John, you’re older than Edward by 10 minutes. Are you the boss?
J: Yeah, I kind of look after Edward.
How long does it take to perfect your spiky hair every day?
J: Twenty minutes. Our hair is indestructible. Pink’s got a Jedward now, and Miley Cirus is doing it, too.
So what’s happening in 2013?
E: We want to win a BAFTA for our new show, Jedward’s Big Adventure, we want to visit every single country in the world, so more people will go: “Hey, look at these guys, they’ve got spiky hair, it’s Jedward.”
J: And then maybe have a huge massive empire of hair products.
● Jedward’s Big Adventure starts tomorrow on CBBC.
This week, we’re…
1) Watching
Spies Of Warsaw A two-part spy thriller with the lovely David Tennant. Set in the back alleys of Warsaw in the years leading up to WW2, you’ll be gripped. 9pm, Wednesday, BBC4
2) Multiplexing
Gangster Squad (15) Apparently this is about the LAPD during the ’40s and ’50s but, to be honest, all we’re really bothered about is that Ryan Gosling’s in it. And that’s reason enough in our eyes. Out Friday
3) Downloading
Take This Waltz (15) Michelle Williams and Seth Rogan star in this cute, honest rom-com about a marriage in crisis when a chance encounter throws 28-year-old Margot together with another man. Out tomorrow
Awkward!
The moment when… You accidentally offer to sleep with your boss.
You’re desperate for a day off, so you decide to email your boss sucking up, hoping he’ll let you miss work for the day. You start typing: “I’m desperate to beg you, but that might seem unprofessional…” and hit send. But wait. You suddenly realise it doesn’t say beg at all, it says bed. Oh no. You’ve just offered to sleep with your boss in exchange for the day off. You quickly type out an email explaining the mistake, hoping he’ll see the funny side, but it’s too late. Your boss has already replied – you haven’t got the day off and you have a lot of explaining to do.
Date for your diary
Brandon Flowers and his Las Vegas boys are hitting the UK shores with their Battle Born World Tour next month, and are then back again in June at Wembley Stadium. It’s set to be their biggest show to date, and we’ll be at the front singing (shouting) along to our favourites Mr Brightside, Somebody Told Me and Smile Like You Mean It. Yep, we’re that cool. February and June, Ticketmaster.co.uk
This week we want to be…
Billie Piper
We’ll admit, she hasn’t always been top of our list of people we want to be. Her Honey To The B days weren’t a high point for her, us, or anyone else. And despite being the youngest star ever to debut at No.1 (have that, Justin Bieber) her role as a pop princess was never meant to be.
But, teen-singing-sensation days behind her, she came back with a bang and things have been looking up ever since.
After taking acting lessons, Billie, 30, blew everyone away as Rose in Dr Who, winning two Most Popular Actress awards at the National Television Awards in 2005 and 2006. Two years later, she caused a telly stir as high-class London escort, Belle de Jour, in Secret Diary Of A Call Girl. And now she’s the leading lady in hit play, The Effect. Big acting respect to you, Bills!
Let’s not forget she’s had a major man upgrade, too. After marrying DJ Chris Evans in 2001 (who, at 16 years her senior, was pretty much old enough to be her dad) in a secret Las Vegas wedding, their rock ’n’ roll marriage came to an end four years later.
Lovely Billie is still friends with her ex, but has since moved on to acting hottie Laurence Fox, 34. They married on New Year’s Eve 2007, so she’s now Mrs Fox. Pretty accurate we think. The loved-up pair have two children, Winston, four, and Eugene, nine months, and are currently planning a move Stateside. Noooooo!
So, why do we want to be Billie Piper? In her own words… Because we want to.
