So Christine, it’s nearly 2013 and we want some resolutions from you.

It’s definitely not to have any resolutions. No one ever keeps them, do they?

You’re training hard – is this all in aid of the wedding dress?

I haven’t got that far. I’m rubbish at being a bridezilla because I’m so relaxed about it all. All Frank [Lampard, 34] and I have decided is that we want it to be private, with just close friends and family. But one thing I can tell you is that it will be in 2013!

Hooray! What’s your favourite type of exercise?

I follow the Reebok CrossFit Plan at home – burpees [squat thrusts and jumps] are so good for strength. And I do squats – although you must make sure you’re doing them properly to get the full benefit. I also love riding my bike, and I go for a run every day.

What was your worst sports injury?

The hardest thing I ever did was the waterski challenge for The One Show in March 2010. It was in aid of Sport Relief, so there was no way I was going to let anyone down, but I was petrified of water and struggled to get it right. On the day, I got on my skis and the boat started, my legs went akimbo and split too far apart. I fell backwards, legs in the air as overstretched as they could go! It was painful, but my only option was to get back up.

Does living with an athlete put extra pressure on you to exercise?

No, our exercise programmes are so different. Frank’s training is rigorous, and can’t be mixed with anything other than what his football coaches and physios tell him to do.

Dancing On Ice is back in a couple of weeks. Who’s your dream contestant?

Someone like Peter Kay. I love watching a good routine with some comedy in it. Todd Carty for instance, for all his faults was a laugh to watch. Todd is obviously an actor but I think any comedian would be
a good contestant.

You competed in Strictly in 2008 – did you keep the dancing up?

Dancing didn’t come naturally to me, so I’m hardly gagging to get back in the ballroom! But my dance partner Matthew Cutler and I are still in touch. We became great friends and I’m still good mates with Rachel Stevens and Lisa Snowdon who were on the show that year too.

Did you watch it this year?

I did, and I really felt for Victoria Pendleton when she messed up in week one. It all came flooding back to me. I remember rehearsing every day for a week, and thinking: “Yes, I’ve 90 per cent got this,” then my mind going blank the second I stepped on stage. It’s the worst nerves I’ve ever experienced.

What about Frank’s dancing technique – will we be seeing him on Strictly any time soon?

He’s too busy to do something like that but he’s a much better dancer than me, and he’s used to handling performance nerves. My dad is a drummer, so surely I should be naturally musical? I must have skipped that gene!
