That’s right. Last night we attended the launch of Thomas Sabo’s stunning new jewellery collection at the summit of Europe’s tallest building – London’s The Shard!
We were among the lucky ones invited for a sneak peak of the best new vista of London (the public gallery doesn’t open until February next year). And, quite simply, it doesn’t disappoint. With an uninterrupted 360 degree view of the capital, the shimmering lights of London town sprawled beneath us provided the perfect backdrop for some of the glittering jewellery on display.
Sabo’s ‘View From The Shard’ event celebrated the launch of his new Sterling Silver Collection for Spring / Summer 2013, and was the perfect stage to formally unveil new brand ambassadors: British model Poppy Delevigne, and violinist, David Garrett.
Beautifully choreographed, guests were treated to a pre-party cocktail at a half way staging-post on the 32nd floor. Neatly called ‘the transition room’, we were greeted by superb cocktails and a jazz piano player – a clever way of acclimatising guests to their ear-popping surroundings before they continued their journey up to the heavens. Better still, all of us received a beautiful Thomas Sabo charm bracelet with a small London heart and Union Jack boot detail, as a memento of the fabulous night.
And … OMG! What to say when the top doors opened? If the views are meant to be breathtaking, then we were definitely breathless with excitement (top tip: even the toilet cubicles have floor-to-ceiling windows!). From the London Eye to St. Paul’s Cathedral, Tower Bridge, Canary Wharf and beyond, this was London at its prettiest. The pomp and ceremony, the hustle and bustle, the creative energy, style and buzz – you could breathe it ALL in with a simple turn of the head.
Apart from the brand ambassadors, Poppy Delevigne and David Garrett, the Fabulous fashion team spotted an array of movers and shakers, from Formula One driver Nico Rosberg to designer and socialite, Jade Jagger, original Sugababes Keisha, Mutya & Siobhan, Ellie Goulding, and many more…

It was a truly magical experience, perhaps the party to end all parties this festive season. It’s hard to know how we’re going to top it… and at 78 storeys and counting, we’re not sure we’d even want to!
