Ever passed a shop window and indulged in a swish of your tresses? Yep, you feel so fab, you just can’t help it. And that’s because nothing makes us feel as good as a good hair day.
But although our locks are the ultimate accessory, we’re not making the most of them. Research has found that the average British woman has been sporting her current do for six years and five months*. Bor-ing! Still, we know that cuts and colour changes can be pricey, so Fabulous has found the styles and tools to give you a good hair day for a whole month.
Go low To rock this season’s low pony, use Revlon Equave Instant Beauty Shine Serum, £10.95. Pull hair back and fix in place at the nape of the neck. Take a section of the pony and wrap around the band.
Fancy a change? Fake a bob without actually going for the chop. Pull hair into a loose, low ponytail, then roll the pony upwards and under until your hair bags into a bob shape. Fix loose ends in place with Superdrug Hair Grips, £1.39 for 30.
Fashion a totally trendy topknot Tip your hair forwards and tie into a high ponytail. Backcomb to add texture by combing in a downward motion only – otherwise you’ll create a whole tangle of knots. Wrap the ponytail around the hairband and fix into place with grips. Make sure it isn’t too sleek – this bun looks cooler when messy.
Wash and go Inject some much-needed moisture into your thirsty tresses with Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Shampoo, £1.89, and Conditioner, £1.89. Leave hair to dry naturally and wear loose to give your locks a day off from the styling tongs
(Left) Heidi high Be braid! Part hair at the middle, and French plait at the root, using three strands and pulling in from the sides as you go. Instead of taking each section under, plait them over each other for better texture. Secure with a band and pin ends under.
(Right) The big wave Sleep in plaits and unravel the next morning for mermaid waves. For a tousled finish, spray on Tresemmé Texture Style Tousled Wave Spray, £5.50.
Panel perfect To disguise greasy hair, rub a pea-sized blob of Sebastian Professional Shine Crafter, £15, into your palms. Take the front section of hair, then work the product backwards and finally grip in place.
Tall tail Finish on a high, by styling your hair in a classy ponytail. Pull lengths up to the crown and secure in place with a Leo Bancroft Bungee Band, £3.50. You twist ’em to fix – meaning your hair stays up, and broken hairbands are banished forever!
