Last night Claridge’s ballroom was transformed into an English country garden, complete with blossom trees and of course a beautiful English rose in the form of radio DJ Fearne Cotton.
The yummy mummy-to-be presented her Very.co.uk S/S ’13 collection – her fourth with the fashion house – to a whole host of celeb and fashion industry onlookers.
As we sipped our gin and elderflower cocktails, we had a nosey at the crowd, who mostly seemed to come from Celebsville.
The frow (that’s front row, FYI), was littered with Fearne’s celeb friends, from Keith Lemon and Pro Green to her beau Jesse Wood.
Fearne’s models, sporting fresh make-up and French braided dos, showcased a vibrant and playful collection of collared playsuits, dipped hem shift dresses, statement trousers and eclectic print maxi skirts.
Some key trends staying with us from S/S are peplums, accordion pleat and sports luxe. And cropped, fitted trousers with a fluoro panel are set to be a statement piece for budding fashionistas.
Fearne’s plum jumpsuit is a great piece to carry you through from S/S. Pair it with patent stilettos (as Fearne did) for a fab evening look.
The final model and Fearne’s muse was no other than future sister-in-law Leah Wood, who wore the most flamboyant piece of the collection – a champagne pink bodycon dress with sheer sleeves and a candy floss fishtail train. The pair had a right giggle as Fearne lapped up her applause, thanking the media and Very for all their support.
The audience broke into coos and awws as she spoke of ‘just about squeezing’ herself and baby Cotton-Wood into her Very dress.
We missed out on the goodie bags (sob) but it would not put a dampener on what was a fabulous night and a great start to London Fashion Week.. now where is that fast-forward button to skip through winter?
Fearne’s new collection is released on Very.co.uk, mid-December.
