Cheeky girl “Davina likes a healthy glow rather than an over-blushed finish, so I swept Nars Blush in Amour, £21, over the apples of her cheeks, before buffing Nars The Multiple in St. Barts, £29, on to the cheekbones. Steer clear of anything glittery from your mid-40s, as this can be ageing. Go for a shimmery combo like this.” (1)
Base drop “I only applied foundation where Davina needed extra coverage. Chanel Vitalumière Satin Fluid Makeup, £34, has a reflective quality, giving healthy-looking skin. I always use a brush as it uses less product – handy when investing in a pricier foundation.” (2)
Simple shimmer “On her eyelids, I mixed up Mac Eye Shadows in Honesty, Embark and Folie, £12 each, and blended these brown shades together. Next, I added a hint of shine to the centre of the lid with Barry M Dazzle Dust in Tan, £4.59, before slicking on Lancôme Définicils Mascara, £20.50.” (3)
Bright eyes “To brighten under Davina’s eyes, I swept on Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder, £18.50 – the light-reflecting ingredients made her eyes look instantly wider. I used a soft brush as the skin here is very delicate and applying in the wrong way can emphasise fine lines.” (4)
Shine off “Powder is essential for keeping shiny skin at bay and helping make-up stay in place for longer. On Davina, I used a mixture of Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Loose Powder in Pale Yellow, £24, and Clinique Blended Face Powder in Transparency 3, £20, across the forehead and down the nose. This is the T-zone area, and is the part of the face that gets oily the quickest.” (5)
Perfectly primed “I prepped Davina’s skin by applying Laura Mercier Foundation Primer, £28, all over her face with my fingers. It’s like make-up Polyfilla, smoothing out fine lines and minimising the appearance of pores.” (6)
