Cheat sheet Strawberries… So fruity

*Out without your lippy? Squeeze a strawberry and carefully dab the juices on to your pout, creating a natural flush. Pretty!

*Pop some strawberries in a salad with feta, salad leaves, peppers and a splash of balsamic vinegar. Posh!

*Jazz up your cava when the girls come round. Squish up some of the red berries in each glass before pouring in the bubbles. Fizzy!

We catch up with TV presenter, radio DJ and, er, equine enthusiast, Sara Cox, 37

Alright Coxy? How’s tricks?

Pretty good. I’ve been up since 4am to ride my racehorse, so I’m buzzing. I’m taking part in a horse race with other celebs soon, which will be mega exciting!

Have you always been mad about horses?

Yeah. My dad has a small farm, so we always had ponies. When I was 14, I used to go hacking with my mates all the time. Then we’d all pile into the chippy, leaving the ponies outside!

So you’re no longer a wild girl?

No, I’ve now got a bit of an obsession with the gym. These days I love my spinning classes.

Do you still love dj’ing?

Absolutely. I totally get how lucky I am doing my job. I get to make people laugh – it is so brilliant.

What’s been the highlight of your career so far?

Being scouted to be a model was pretty good. When I was 18 or 19, I did Paris, got to travel, and met some good mates. At one point, my picture was on the packaging of some Boots tights, so my mum bought lots and lots of packets – she was chuffed.

And what’s next?

I’d quite like to write a novel. I’m really into blogging (Saracox.co.uk) and Twitter. I once tweeted: “Do you cook duck breast skin down or up?” – and Gordon Ramsay replied!

Skin down, Sara. Everyone knows that.

● Sara will takes part in The Ladies Day Magnolia Cup charity race, on August 2 at Glorious Goodwood (Goodwood.com).

This week, we’re…

1 Watching Britain’s Oldest Stand Up

Ninety-year-old Jack Woodward’s always dreamed of performing at the Hammersmith Apollo, and this fab film follows him as he fulfils his ambition. Monday, 10pm, More 4.

2 Multiplexing Ted (15)

The writers of Family Guy are behind this definitely-not-for-kids story about a living teddy, who smokes, drinks and does other naughties, with Mila Kunis and Mark Wahlberg. Out Wednesday.

3 Downloading Blur 21: The Box

When we’re not feeling a bit weird that Blur have been around for 21 years (gulp!), we’ll be buying this immense box set containing 21 discs of tunes, three DVDs, a book, vinyl and more. Out tomorrow.

Date for your diary… Guilty Pleasures Cinema Weekender

Is it just us or…

Does your love life sometimes feel a bit more 5 Cups Of Earl Grey than 50 Shades Of Grey?

Awkward!

The moment when… you’re stuck in the middle of a friend’s family argument. It’s all fun and games at your best mate’s family birthday/party/holiday (delete as applicable), and you’ve been invited, because you’re so one of the family now. Aww. That is, until your bezzie does her best impression of a six year old and starts throwing a strop so monstrous you want to give her a kick. Then her mum trumps her and starts screaming like a banshee, while her scary dad gives everyone death stares. Including you. And you’re left studying a very important part of the wallpaper. Very intently. Memo to self: decline Chrimbo dinner invite.

This week we want to be…Kate Moss

Kate (with hubby Jamie Hince, right) is our definitive lady of style

She wafted waif-like on to the fashion scene aged just 14, and 24 years later (yep, she’s 38), Kate’s still up there as our definitive queen of cool.

Having single-handedly brought heroine chic into the ’90s when Stussy jeans and crushed velvet blouses threatened to take over our wardrobes, Kate reinvented the fashion wheel again by leading the boho movement. Then, five years ago, Ms Moss launched her collection for Topshop and we queued, we spent and we wore. And we still wear.

Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Calvin Klein, Burberry… Kate’s modelled for the lot and graced the cover of Vogue over 300 times worldwide. Phew! Croydon-born Kate caught the eye of Hollywood royalty when she dated Johnny Depp, before having daughter Lila Grace with magazine publisher Jefferson Hack in 2002.

She’s about to feature in George Michael’s new video for White Light – but it’s not Kate’s first foray into music. For four years, she led the ultimate rock ’n’ roll relationship with Pete Doherty, including a stint in rehab, until it ended in 2007. Kate is now happily married to The Kills’ guitarist Jamie Hince, 43, and lives in a big house in the country.

So it’s the cosy life for Kate now? Err… doubtful. There is no way La Moss will head into her 40s in a sedate manner and that, as much as anything else, is why we love her.
