Last night we…let Jamie Oliver make our tea

We’re not too shabby with a pot, pan and sharp knife, but when Mr Oliver invited us over for dinner we scooted to his place at super speed…Tucked away, down a cool/shabby street in North East London, you will find Jamie Oliver’s office. Well, we say office ’cause there are some desks/computers, but there’s also a massive country kitchen you may recognise from some of his shows, two spare kitchens – natch, A LOT of food and a library’s worth of cook books.

We popped there yesterday to find out all about Jamie’s range of cooking and homes treats (check ‘em out at Debenhams.com, fyi) and let him whip us up some scrummy Ricotta Fritters with tangy salsa. As J, as we now like to call him, got to work, he told us all about his cooking adventures over the years.

With his trademark cheeky chappy style he revealed that when he first moved to London and lived in a tiny studio flat he grew some herbs on the windowsill, as he LOVES herbs (no really, he said he’d give up cooking if there weren’t any herbs). Then years later, as his first TV show, The Naked Chef, made him properly famous, a random approached him in the street. “Did you used to live down that road?” he asked Jamie, who nodded. “Oh well, I used to wee on your herbs,” the random added. Charming. It didn’t put us off our tea mind.

Jamie expertly fried the Ricotta Fritters, before serving them up on silver spoons (fancy) with a blob of spicy salsa and some torn basil. And they were lushness. Cheers Oliver! Same time tonight?
