Tinsletown’s star polisher, Pati Dubroff, tells us how she gave Charlize Theron some serious red-carpet sparkle.

Loaded lashes “To give Charlize definition around her eyes, I built up coats of Dior Diorshow Extase Instant Oversize Volume Mascara in Black, £23, and added Shu Uemura Partial Soft Cross False Eyelashes, £15.50, to the outer edges.” (1)

Dramatic effect “For added drama, I used Nars Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Madison Ave, £17, on the inside rim of the lower lashes. I repeated this many times to achieve a rich, deep effect.” (2)

Face the base “To give Charlize a glow, I prepped her skin with a Suqqu Gankin Massage, £40. This treatment works on facial muscles to give sharper definition – creating a perfect base for make-up.” (3)

Soft touch “I swirled RMK Ingenious Jelly Cheeks in JE-05, £19.50, on Charlize’s cheekbones, then added Dior Addict Lipstick in Beige Perfection, £24, on her lips, to keep the rest of the face soft and allow her eyes to be the focus.” (4)

Grey day “First I applied Nars Cream Eyeshadow in Lili Marlène, £14, (6) from the outer corners to halfway across the lids, then the dark grey and black shades from Dior’s 5 Couleurs palette in Smoky Design, £40, on the centre of the lids. I finished with the nude shadow on the brow ridge and a sweep of the silver across the inner corner of the lid.” (5)

Brow Belle “I kept Charlize’s brows defined and the arch exaggerated with Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Ash Blonde, £15.50.”

Clean Slate “I applied Suqqu Frame Fix Lasting Pact Foundation in 202, £49,(7)with a brush before adding a dash of Suqqu Concealer in 02, £24, under Charlize’s eyes to disguise dark circles. I also used it over her eyelids as a base for the eyeshadow.” (6), (7)
