Glade
The quirky, eclectic electronic music festival runs this weekend. If you can get your hands on a ticket, you can catch Andy C, Rusko and Toddla T. Pssst, we also recommend you catch A Rave Called Sharon – these house/disco DJs from Leeds always bring the house down in raucous fashion.
Until Sunday, Houghton Hall, Norfolk (Gladefestival.com)
Fast Girls (12A)
We’ve loved Lenora Critchlow since her days as bad girl Sugar in Channel 4’s Sugar Rush. Now she’s gone big screen on us, in this film about athletes training for the Olympics. Like Bend it Like Beckham, but for 2012.
Out now.
N1 English Garden
This summer the N1 shopping centre in Islington has created its very own English country garden. Relax in deck chairs in between shopping, and get your nails done, too – mini manis happen regularly, along with Zumba classes. It’s like a little oasis in the middle of London…
Until August, N1 shopping centre, London (N1islington.com)
Stand Up and Be the Change
This is a different one for you Mancunians. The Dalai Lama himself is giving a talk today on global peace, and it’s compered by Russell Brand (yes, really). Check out the accompanying video, shot by Rankin and featuring a host of stars from Stella McCartney to Jarvis Cocker.
Today, Manchester Arena (Ticketmaster.com)
Friends of Jubilee lido
If the sun is shining (if? Maybe? Hopefully?) then take a dip in this newly-restored lido, which runs into the Cornish sea. Originally opened in 1935, it’s a work of art in itself. If the sun’s not out, then stick this place in your diary – it’s spectacular.
Open until September, Penzance, Cornwall (Jubileepool.co.uk)
