The beauty trend report

For hot summer looks, celebs are taking their cues from the catwalk – and so can you!

Red, red, wine

A Merlot-stained pout is perfect for sophisticated drinks.

Get the look Copy Kate and Lana and apply Mac Lipstick in Dubonnet, £13.50 (1), with your finger for a perfect deep-red stain. “This super-versatile warm red has a touch of brown in the blend so it works for all skin tones – from very pale to dark, as well as pink or olive complexions,” says Pablo Rodriguez, Mac senior artist. “Its creamy texture means you can easily dab it on. Match the lippy with Mac Lip Pencil in Brick, £10.50, for old-school Hollywood glamour.

Colour call

Try an in-your-face flash of colour for a fun festival vibe

Get the look To rock these youthful brights à la Ginny and Chloë, use a single bright eyeshadow shade under your lash line and then apply it all over your eyelid up to the crease of your eyelid. “One of the shades from the Sleek Makeup Ultra Mattes palette in V1, £7 (2), will work a treat. It’s all about block colours as seen on the Dior and Moschino catwalks,” says Kamanza, celebrity make-up artist for Sleek Makeup.

Making waves

Spice up summer nights with a retro sweep to the side

Get the look After washing hair, combat frizz by working Toni & Guy Prep Curl Defining Hair Oil, £6.39 (3), through damp locks. Flip your hair forward and blast with a hairdryer to give your roots mega volume. Divide hair into medium-sized sections before using tongs, such as Enrapture Encode Totem Styler, £74.99 (4), to create loose curls like Amy and Jessica’s. Brush with beauty investment, the Mason Pearson Pure Bristle Brush, £74.50 (5), to bring curls together, then pull over one shoulder.

Party line

Wear bold liner with nude lips to go from beach to bar

Get the look Adele’s flicky eyes are a cinch to copy – the felt-tip end of the Lancôme Liner Design in Black, £18.50 (6), makes it easy. Don’t shut your eye when applying, keep it slightly open and hold the upper lid with your finger. Draw from the middle of the lash line to the outer corner. If you’re using a liquid or gel, go over the line from the middle to the inner corner without dipping the brush again for a soft line. Got an unsteady hand? Draw dots and join them up.

Plaits please

Off to a wedding? Pin your braid for a gorgeous up-do

Get the look Look pretty in plaits like Lea and Scarlett. First, spray Bumble And Bumble Surf Spray, £19.50 (7), lightly through dry hair. It will add volume to you roots and give you just-left-the-beach texture. Pull the hair into a low side ponytail, and plait. Wrap the plait around the front of your hair and pin to your hairline with Boots Essentials Black Hair Grips, £1.49 (8), then fix with hairspray. If your hair isn’t long enough, fake it with the ASOS Fake Hair Head Band Plait, £8.
