Make-up artist Scott Barnes tells us how he created Jennifer Lopez’s superstar glow

Bronze Age

“Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder in Shade 5, £33.50, is moisturising and gives warmth to skin. I built up the colour by sweeping a brush, from Jennifer’s forehead, under the eyes, then along the jawline.” (1)

Pout it out

“To give Jennifer the illusion of a fuller pout, I applied a nude lip colour then highlighted her Cupid’s bow and bottom lip with Nars Larger Than Life Lip Gloss in Gold Digger, £19.” (2)

Staying power

“I set Jennifer’s make-up with a fine dusting of Inglot Pressed Powder in shade 11, £12, creating a dewy finish by applying it just to her T-zone.” (3)

Smoke and mirrors

“Dior 5 Couleurs Designer in Smoky Design, £40, is perfect for creating J.Lo’s smoky eye. For added impact, I swept Maybelline Eye Studio Master Precise Liner, £5.99, past the corner of her lashes to Bambify her eyes.” (4), (5)

Glow getter

“To get the J.Lo tan, I applied my Body Bling Moisturising Shimmering Body Lotion, £24.95, all over. A tinted moisturiser on arms and legs covers blemishes, while a lighter shade on the décolletage and neck gives a subtle shimmer.” (6)

Lash alert

“I used specially designed lashes for Jennifer, but Shu Uemura Flare Eyelashes in Black, £13, are great. I finished with mascara, and Japonesque Power Curl Eyelash Curler, £19, for impact.” (7), (8)

Not just a pretty base

“I use cream foundation for Jennifer as you can blend it to highlight and contour. Bobbi Brown’s Foundation Stick in Honey, £27, is perfect for her. A great tip is to use a second foundation a shade lighter than your skin to sculpt your cheekbones and nose.” (9)
