Last night we – guffawed at Abigail’s Party

By Olivia Sweeting

Last night we huddled up in cosy Wyndham’s Theatre and were graced with Mike Leigh’s wonderful play, Abigail’s Party. Armed with the obligatory glass of Pinot and a tub of ice cream, we cackled and guffawed at some outrageous flirting and sexual innuendo, left, right and centre.

The cringeworthy comedy had the audience in stitches as we were transported to 70’s suburbia. Beverley, played by Jill Halfpenny, invites the neighbours round for a bash, only to row in front of her guests, give ‘beauty’ advice to her dreary buddy, Angela, and ply the meek and mild Susan with G&T’s until she vomits…ringing any bells?

Featuring a naff 70’s drink cabinet and wallpaper to match, you’ll be reminiscing all evening. Book up if you want to see some fab acting and a much needed laugh out loud.
