It’s not every day that you pop to to your local department store and find a top business woman, not to mention some scantily dressed beauties…
But yesterday when we nipped in to Selfridges that’s exactly what we found. Fabulous caught up with the super gorge Michelle Mone at the swanky Hix bar in store to get all the goss on her latest venture into self tanning. The Scottish beaut talked us through the ultra glam Utan products that will leave you looking sizzling hot and super sculpted.
“I’ve been making lingerie for a long time now, and I got a bit bored,” ‘fesses Michelle. “I’m really passionate about the beauty industry and tanning was a huge thing for me. It’s important to feel glam!” Michelle is the wonderbrains behind the fab Ultimo lingerie line and a Fabulous columnist, natch! She’s a pro at making sexy undies, so why is she moving into tanning? “I deal with so many celebrities – Kelly Brook, Rachel Hunter, Sarah Harding – and on shoots, they would always complain that they could never find the perfect tanning product. It was ridiculous! So I did something about it.”
Beauty and brains
The sassy business woman hired a scientist, a chemist and a tanning expert, then spent three years putting all the Utan products together. The shades range from the natural California Sun to a mega deep Brazilian Bronze. There are mousses, lotions, graduals and instants on offer, plus a brill exfoliator and moisturiser to get the perfect golden glow. And the secret to making such an amaze tanning range?
“I wanted it to be odourless – no one wants to smell like biscuits or wet dog!” Michelle laughs. “It doesn’t stain your sheets, it doesn’t go streaky, and it doesn’t make you look tangoed!” Self-tanning without all the bad bits! Who’d have thought that such a miracle would be possible? But wait – it gets much, much better …
“We also came up with the U-sculpt technology, which firms, tones, sculpts, and actually stops cellulite as you fake tan. I’m really proud of that!” Ermazing! So home tanning that smells lush, looks delish and doesn’t leave your pillowcase a dodge colour. Plus gives you a goddess bod in the process. Genius! We wanted to learn a bit more from beauty guru Michelle so we raided her make-up bag to find out how the glam Glaswegian gets her gorgeous on.
“Lancome Juicy Tubes are a must! I also love charcoal eyes, so a good Chanel eyeshadow pallette is an essential,” she reveals. Yep, Michelle defos knows exactly what she’s doing when it comes to looking fabulous. Oh and a hot beauty tip from the Ultimo-te beauty queen; “Every girl should have a YSL Touch Eclat; it’s a classic make-up must have!” Thanks Mich.
