Anatomy of a face

Celebrity make-up artist Lan Nguyen tells us how to get the Duchess of Cambridge’s pretty-as-a-picture look

Flush ‘n’ fresh

“Kate’s blusher is immaculate, and it’s rumoured that she’s a fan of Bobbi Brown make-up. Get a first-class flush by applying Bobbi Brown Blush in Pale Pink, £18, over the apples of your cheeks, then buff Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Pink Quartz, £30.50, along your cheekbones.” (1)

Forever foundation

“I’m sure the Duchess doesn’t have time for touch-ups. Revlon Photoready Airbrush Mousse Makeup, £12.99, comes in eight shades, has amazing staying power and creates the perfect long-lasting, airbrushed result.” (2)

Slightly smoky

“BareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow 4.0 in The Truth, £29, is perfect for a subtle brown smoky look. Apply Magnetism over the socket and Fate on the socket line. Blend Apropos into the outside of the eye, then sweep Serendipitous under the brow.” (3)

The princess primer

“Even if you have flawless skin, like Kate’s, a primer helps fill in pores, soften fine lines and creates a base for your foundation. My favourite is Benefit The Porefessional, £23.50. Use your fingers to apply it all over.” (4)

Glossy posse

“Her lips are so shimmery. Start by defining with a lipliner such as L’Oréal Contour Parfait Lip Liner in Rosewood, £4.38. Finish with Max Factor Max Colour Effect Max Cube Gloss in Soft Rose, £5.99, for a princess pout.” (5)

Eye definers

“Eyeliner is Kate’s signature make-up feature, and she’s been spotted buying Lancôme Artliner, £20, and Lancôme Hypnôse Mascara, £21. Use the liner on the top and bottom lash lines, then add a light coat of mascara.” (6)

Beautifully bronzed

“Kate’s warmed up her complexion with a hint of bronzer swept across cheeks, forehead and chin. Get her look with Mac Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Give Me Sun!, £20.50. It’s made with mineral powder to soak up any excess oil.” (7)
