Fruity fingers
They’re smudge-free and last up to 10 days, it’s no wonder everyone’s mad for nail wraps – Jessie J and Rihanna are huge fans. Cute cartoon pics and in-your-face prints are super hot right now. Get patriotic with Rimmel London Instant Art Press On Colour in Union Jack, £6.99. Stick on to tips, then file to fit by removing excess wrap using Stylfile, £4.49 – the clever curved nail file from The Apprentice’s Tom Pellereau.
Sweet sensation
Leading the way for this neon ‘n’ nude look is Beyoncé, who recently wore bright red tips. Talons should be neat and round – nail expert Andrea Fullerton recommends her Miracle Nail Buffer, £1.99, for tidy tips. “Keep nails bare,” adds manicurist Kim Treacy, then attempt the tips freehand and keep lines in check with OPI’s Correct & Clean Up Pen, £11.50, which erases messy polish. Finish with a high-gloss topcoat such as Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat, £9.95.
L-R: L’Oréal Paris Color Riche Nail in Sky Fits Heaven, £4.99; Nails Inc Nail Polish in Carnaby Street, £11; Nails Inc Nail Polish in Seven Dials, £11; Essie Nail Polish in Orange, It’s Obvious, £9.95; Essie Nail Polish in Lilacism, £9.95
Check mate
This cheeky criss-cross design is a fun way to add pow to your polish. Paint the entire nail with the strongest colour – we love the bright pink Mac Nail Lacquer in Steamy, £9 – and allow to dry. Once set, place two Post-it notes on opposite quarters, so their corners just meet in the middle to help create even blocks of colour, and paint on the second colour – we used Nails Inc Nail Polish in Hyde Park Gate, £11. Apply a topcoat for a slick finish.
