How do you say ‘well fit’ in French?
Robert Pattinson being all broody and sexy and just un petit peu French. It
was no surprise we much enjoyed a preview screening of new film Bel Ami.
Based on Guy de Maupassant’s original French novel, the film is set in 1890s
Paris – a world of sex, scandal, and flamboyance.
R-Patz plays Georges DuRoy, a penniless former soldier trying to make his
fortune in Paris. His looks and way with the ladies win him an army of
female admirers and he quickly learns that by befriending (read: bedding)
the wives of Paris’ most influential men, he can work his way to the top of
political newspaper La Vie Française.
But unsurprisingly, it all backfires a bit for young R-Patz, who realises he’s
unsuspectingly been manipulated by the women he’s used himself.
With a spellbinding cast including Christina Ricci, Kristin Scott Thomas and
Uma Thurman, it’s a stylish film with more than the occasional moment of
laughter.
And, er, yeah, you get to see a LOT of R-Patz. Need I say more…
