The outspoken presenter, 32, talks marriage, careers and er, toilet habits…
We hear you recently got engaged [to actor Chris O’Dowd]. Congratulations!
Was it very romantic?
It was very romantic. We were in Guernsey with my family for Christmas and
walking along the beach on Boxing Day. I was taking a photo and when I
turned round he was down on one knee!
Will it be a star-studded wedding?
We won’t have a big wedding, we want to keep it quite small. We wanted a 100
people but it keeps going up and up and up. I don’t like the idea of it
being star-studded, but we both work with a lot of people that are well
known and fell in love with them.
With a wedding to plan and a busy career, we’re guessing there are no
January blues for you?
I’ve got a book to write, got a few TV projects, I have so much to do! I’m at
the stage of being a little like ‘how the hell am I going to do all this?’
Are you looking forward to the rest of 2012?
I’m looking forward to it for selfish reasons, I’m going to have one of the
most amazing years of my life.
You’ve never exactly been known for shying away from uncomfortable topics –
you’ve talked about sex, cancer…
And about people wiping their bums! That was a bit embarrassing at first, but
Andrex are letting me be as funny and mischevious as I want.
Is there any topic you wouldn’t be comfortable talking about?
The more in love you fall and the more serious a relationship gets the less
you want to talk about that. I was always really open about dating and sex
when I was younger and now I find myself wanting to talk less and less about
my private life. The shows I made five years ago I wouldn’t make now! I’ve
calmed down a lot!
