You’ll have a queue of hot men waiting under the mistletoe after our lip guide

THE TWO-TONE LIP

What is it? Clashing your top and bottom lip colours for a funky, pop
art feel.

Seen at: Emanuel Ungaro.

How to do it: “Clashing lips are the festive season’s way to make your
face pop,” says Lipstick Queen founder Poppy King. Use Lipstick Queen
Chinatown Glossy Pencil in Bright Orange, £19.09 (1), to fill in the whole
of your top lip, and the new Technic vitamin E-infused lipstick in Hot Pink,
£1.99 (2), on the bottom.

THE CUPID’S BOW

What is it? A sharp shape that screams seduction and hot Hollywood
sizzle.

Seen at: Emporio Armani.

How to do it: First, delicately frame your lips. Using a small lip
brush such as Kent Lip Brush No.6, £7.50 (3), create the perfect pout with a
curvy ‘V’ shape on the top lip and a peachy shape on the bottom. On the top
lip, follow your natural lipline, but take the peaks just a bit higher than
where they actually stop – this will give you more space to dip down and up
again with the brush. For the bottom lip, follow your lip line and create a
softer ‘bump’ in the centre of your lip. MeMeMe’s new Long Stay Lip Colour
in Ultimate Red, £5.99 (4), is ideal if you’re going from desk to dance
floor as it’s ‘dual ended’, with a matte red colour at one end and a clear
gloss at the other. Keep it matte for the day and go ultra-glossy for night.

THE LADYLIKE LIP

What is it? A sleek, sophisticated look.

Seen at: Vivienne Westwood.

How to do it: According to My Face founder Charlotte Tilbury, lipliner
and lipstick shades that match give a fuller-looking pout. Any colour works,
but if you’re rockin’ a smoky eye, compliment it with a nude lip. Use My
Face Cosmetics High Definition Liner in Nude, £6.35 (5). Finish with
Maybelline Moisture Extreme Lipstick in Luminous Beige, £4.88 (6).

THE BURNISHED LIP

What is it? Shimmering shades that will make you sparkle.

Seen at: Charlotte Ronson and Alessandro Dell’Acqua.

How to do it: There’s only one way to rock metallics this Christmas,
and that’s in sophisticated shades of burnished copper, bronze and russet.
Apply Mac Bronze Shimmer Lipstick, £12 (7), all over your lips. Pat with a
tissue to remove any moisture, then add a second coat to make it last all
night. For some extra festive fun, lightly dab loose gold glitter or powder
over your lips – Benefit Lust Duster in Nugget, £13.50 (8), is perfect.

THE TRICK-OF-THE-LIGHT LIP

What is it? The make-up artist’s secret to making a pout poutier.

Seen at: Moschino Chic & Cheap.

How to do it: Want bee-stung lips? Then we’ve got a trick for you!
“Make one lip ever so slightly lighter than the other and hey presto – it
appears fuller!” says Ariane Poole, Lisa Snowdon’s make-up gal. Line and
fill in whichever is your smallest lip with Tigi Bedhead Big Fat Lip Liner
in Black Cherry, £8.90 (9), to give a dark undercoat. Then apply Revlon’s
new Va Va Violet matte lipstick, £7.49 (10), to both lips, for a look that
complements this season’s gothic complexion.

THE WET-LOOK LIP

What is it? A sheeny style that’s less glossy and more glam.

Seen at: Emilio Pucci.

How to do it: For a sexy, but-not-too-scary pout, start with a hint of
girlie colour – The Body Shop’s Lip & Cheek Stain in Rose
Pink, £9.25 (11), is a great shade that suits every skin tone. Apply all
over your mouth. To create the dewy wet look, slather on new Simple Kind To
Lips Intensive Lip Moisturiser, £2.99 (12), on top with your finger. It’ll
add a clear, irresistibly dewy sheen while vitamin E will keep your lips
perfectly moisturised. Mwah!
